Blinds & Curtains · Honeycomb
Honeycomb blinds, done with care. Properly insulating.
What are honeycomb blinds?
Honeycomb blinds are the only window treatment that genuinely insulates. The fabric is folded into hexagonal cells that trap a layer of air between the room and the window — the same principle as double-glazing. CSIRO testing shows up to 32% heat reduction in summer and significant warmth retention in winter. The energy savings are real and measurable.
Norman's honeycomb range is what we recommend. The cells hold their shape over time (cheap honeycombs collapse within a year or two), the fabric stays crisp, and the control mechanisms are properly engineered. Particularly worth specifying in north-facing rooms, kids' rooms (sleep quality + temperature), and any home where energy bills matter.

Norman · D-Cell honeycomb structure
Side-on, the honeycomb structure is visible — hexagonal cells in a stable D-cell formation that holds its shape under tension and over time. This is the engineering that delivers the insulation. Look closely in the showroom and you'll see the difference between this and the cheap collapsing cells you find in budget alternatives.

Norman · CSIRO-tested heat reduction
Up to 32% heat reduction in summer through north-facing windows, and meaningful warmth retention in winter. Tested by Australia's CSIRO, not the manufacturer. The savings show up on your energy bill within the first season — particularly noticeable in houses that previously relied on air-con through summer.

Norman · Cordless lift
Push-bar lift control, no exposed cords, certified child-safe. The standard configuration for residential honeycomb blinds — and worth specifying because the cordless mechanism is also smoother and quieter than chain-control.

Norman · SmartFit guide cords
Almost-invisible guide cords running down the edges of each blind, keeping the cells perfectly aligned at every position. Without them, honeycombs can fishbone or sag at the edges over time. With them, the blind stays geometrically perfect for the life of the product.

Norman · Day & Night
Two-fabric honeycomb — translucent fabric for daytime light filtering, blockout fabric for night privacy or sleep. Both fabrics are honeycomb structure, both insulate. Controlled independently. The premium answer for bedrooms wanting full functionality from a single window treatment.

Norman · Top Down Bottom Up
The blind can be lowered from the top OR raised from the bottom — independently. Useful for windows where you want privacy at the lower half but daylight at the top, or vice versa. Bathrooms, street-facing bedrooms, kitchen splashback windows.

Norman · Patio Door Vertical
The honeycomb format adapted for sliding doors — runs vertically, opens horizontally, still insulates. The right answer for big sliding doors where standard horizontal honeycomb doesn't make sense, but you still want the insulation properties.

Norman · Smart motorisation
Voice, app, remote, scheduled scenes. Worth specifying for high windows, wide spans, or houses where you want automated insulation (blinds drop at sunset, raise at sunrise). Battery options mean no electrician.
