What are curtains & sheers?

Curtains and sheers are fabric window treatments hung on a track or rod, drawn open or closed. The difference is what the fabric does: curtains are weighted and lined to soften a room and (in blockout form) darken it completely; sheers are light, translucent, and diffuse natural light beautifully without losing privacy from the street.

Most modern homes layer both — sheers for the day, curtains for the night, on a double track that hides nothing. It's the most flexible window treatment you can buy.

Sheer curtains

Sheer curtains

Translucent fabric that diffuses daylight while keeping privacy from outside. Linen looks, voiles, super-sheers — choose the weight that suits the room. The fabric most customers don't realise they want until they see it draped properly.

Blockout curtains

Heavily lined fabric that blocks light completely. The right pick for bedrooms, media rooms, and shift workers. Properly lined blockout is also genuinely insulating — it adds warmth in winter and reduces heat gain in summer.

Double-layered curtains

Sheer in front, blockout behind, both on a double track. Diffused daylight, total privacy at night, one unified install. The premium configuration most renovators eventually choose, and the one we install most often in main bedrooms.

Wave fold curtains

Wave fold curtains

S-fold or wave fold heading — the modern look. Soft cascading folds that hold their shape when drawn or stacked. The contemporary curtain style of choice, and the one that suits new builds and modern interiors.

Pinch pleat curtains

Traditional tailored heading. Classic, formal, sits properly against the wall — the curtain choice for heritage and luxury rooms. Looks expensive because it is expensive — and worth it where the room calls for it.

Eyelet curtains

Metal rings threaded through the top of the fabric, sliding directly along a rod. Casual, contemporary, easy to operate. The right answer for relaxed living areas and kids' rooms where formality isn't the brief.

Motorised curtain tracks

Voice control, app, or remote. Quiet motors for wide windows, tall ceilings, or rooms with hard-to-reach windows. Particularly worth specifying in main bedrooms where reaching across the bed every morning is a nuisance.

For customers who care where it comes from — Australian-made fabrics available, with shorter lead times and local supply chains. We can match imported looks with Australian-made alternatives where you'd like to.
